LONG LIVE SNEAKERS IN OSLO :: GAMMA BLUE XI'S

Rise and shine! Early bird gets the worm! And that is finally the case in Oslo – even when it comes to sneakers. I’ve been a big sneaker geek ever since I could remember, and I love how the game treated me. Nobody bought anything, so I could always go late on a release day to scoop a pair. I could even wait some months when they reduce the prices to get me a nice steal on some gems that people “kill” for overseas. NO HASSLE.

However, with a culture like that, the street wear/sneaker community never grew. It was basically only a select few of us, and most of us where the ones working in the stores. And then later on the sneaker stores, didn’t bother hyping up or even getting the limited edition shoes.

But! There is a change in the wind. And this (early)morning was living proof of that. Stress – the leading sneaker store in Norway – haven’t lost faith in creating a bigger sneaker community, so they’ve kept carrying the rare shoes. And lately I’ve also been active when it comes to documenting the event – the growing lines and such, just to boost the community. Today it reached its highest peak yet. Its been forever since anyone lined up at 4 am for a pair of shoes in Oslo. And a couple of hours before the stores open, all the sizes were basically taken. The cool part was the fact that its not only he same people anymore. For every release new people come and line-up, and I must say its awesome. I always wanted this, even though it makes it harder to get a pair for myself. But who cares? Lets keep the community alive!

S/O to Emma and her team at Stress for really pushing it forward, and making all the releases an awesome event – by putting out benches for the people in-line, giving them a chance to get breakfast without losing their spot and such. You guys are a big reason get to know more about the sneaker culture! Good times!

And oh yeah…this morning marked the release of the Air Jordan XI “GAMMA BLUE”. Pretty sweet indeed!
