Filling Pieces is making some of my favorite kicks currently. Hailing from Amsterdam, Filling Pieces draws upon a timeless silhouette in representing an exemplary balance between street sensibilities and quality construction. Tasteful details come to the forefront, while the profile remains safe but not monotonous. Let’s translate that from blog talk: without being boring, the low top is simple and dope. The exaggerated tongue is arguably the defining detail of this shoe, combined with ribbed stitching on the heel adding some variation. As I skimmed the item description waiting for this pair to show up at my door, I noted the pigskin liner, which turns out to be one of my favorite elements of the shoe as I’m wearing them. Well executed overall, and as such I’m not expecting this brand to be an underdog for long. Props to the guys in Amsterdam.
