“Hobbies with Asa Akira” has finally reached its end and we know you couldn’t be more torn up about it. We can relate. If only there were some other way to watch endless videos of Asa. Oh well, The Hundreds is here to lessen the blow, we’ve put together every episode of “Hobbies” for your viewing pleasure. So now you can binge watch the 2013 AVN female performer of the year as she bounces from hobby to hobby in search of the perfect one to occupy her downtime. Whether it’s tattooing, blacksmithing, boxing, or anything beetween, Asa’s willing to take the challenge. Check out our recap of the episodes below.
Ah yes, tattooing. You remember this one? The one that’s low key completely illegal and we had to cut out a bunch of footage to avoid any sort of unwanted jail time? You remember. Asa shoots over to The Honorable Society to see if she has what it takes to permanently scar the shop’s residential tattoo artist Eric Alvino’s leg with the cartoon version of herself “but with bigger boobs.” See how it turns out and watch Eric keep his panic behind his eyes below. (Spoiler: It actually isn’t half bad.)
After years of deliberately numbing ourselves with the dark side of the Internet, we’re always on the look out for any video that can still make us feel some type of way. We have yet to find it, so we decided to just make it. In “Hobbies with Asa Akira” Episode 2 :: Taxidermy, Asa visits Bischoff’s Taxidermy in Burbank to meet up with its owner, Gary Robbins, and get a hands-on look at the disgusting – but necessary – steps of stuffing some road kill. Watch Asa get her hands dirtier than ever below.
Yes, you read that right, we made a porn star crochet. And, to Asa’s surprise, the hobby is strangely captivating. After spending a few hours at Gather DTLA with the wonderfully helpful Renaissance (literally her name), this seemingly repetitive pastime actually captivated Asa to the point where she said not to film any more episodes – “I found my hobby!” …Turns out she lied and there are three more episodes after this one. See if the star has the skill to cover up and crochet herself a bikini top below.
In episode 4, Asa took a trip to Koreatown, Los Angeles, to visit KTown Boxing Club to see if she has what it takes to last in the ring. With the help of Simon – the one person in the world to make no porn puns – Asa gets in tip top shape to step into the ring and go head-to-head with our videographer. Who shall remain nameless after the embarrassing ass whooping he received. At first, the idea of boxing didn’t pique the performer’s interest, but aftr she learned the grueling training process real boxers go through to prep themselves for a fight, she exclaimed that it was her favorite hobby so far. Which is weird, because she said that in Episode 3. We’re onto her. Check out the fight of the century below.
To cool down from Episode 4 :: Boxing, Asa Akira travelled to LA Ice Art and tested her artistic chops with the surprisingly dangerous and unsurprisingly beautiful art of ice carving. Follow 2013 AVN performer of the year as she picks up a chainsaw and whittles down a giant block of ice into a fish with the help of Rex. Well, at least tries to. Check it out below.
Seeing as her last hobby was ice carving, Asa Akira decided to heat things back up in Episode 6 :: Blacksmithing. She headed over to Sword and the Stone in Burbank and met up with the 50% barbarian, 50% master craftsman, and 100% coolest dude in the world, Tony Swatton of Man at Arms to create the worlds most deadly – but least intimidating – Hello Kitty dagger. And before you go on about it, we know those percentages don’t add up right, but the legend that is Tony Swatton doesn’t adhere to the world’s mathematical rules. Check out the final, epic episode of “Hobbies with Asa Akira” below.
Now that “Hobbies with Asa Akira” has wrapped up, we can only assume your life now has a giant, empty black hole that can no longer be filled. Think again, mother-suckers. We came back with what will probably be the best episode you’ve seen yet. Not for story value. Not for production value. Because it’s an uncut look at the insanity that takes place when you put amateur post-pubescent filmmakers in the same boiler-room with an A-list pornstar who takes things like disemboweled rabbits with stride. Viewer discretion is advised.
When 2013 AVN female performer of the year Asa Akira isn’t in front of the camera, what does she do? From the hilariously obscure to the downright absurd, in The Hundreds’ “Hobbies with Asa Akira,” she searches for a new pastime as we reveal what’s on the other side of the velvet curtain, getting an insiders look into the eccentric lives of hobbyists alongside an adult film star in her downtime.
Recently, Asa published an enlightening memoir, Insatiable: Porn – A Love Story, chronicling her career, personal life, and true love for what she does, regardless of common misconceptions societally held towards people that work in the adult industry – a sentiment that hardcore hobbyists also share. Together, Asa and these hobbyists expose us to the underbelly of human nature – those that do what truly makes them happy, despite the critical eye of everyone else.
