DISPOSED :: GLIMPSE OF HONG KONG :: DAVID RIVERA

DISPOSED :: GLIMPSE OF HONG KONG :: DAVID RIVERA

In our DISPOSED series, we equip contributors with a disposable camera or two and get a visual slice of life in return. Check out all of our previous DISPOSED entries HERE. This following DISPOSED was passed on to David Rivera, our Headwear and Accessories Designer during The Hundreds’ design trip to Hong Kong.

So Pat, Erica and I went to Hong Kong for a development trip, to finish our Winter ’15 collection. Worked all week, met with our manufacturers, went fabric shopping. It was my first time in Hong Kong, so I had no idea what to expect. The culture is something else – fast paced everything! Overall, the food was good – sorry no photos, I was busy eating. Weather was a mixture of heat with humidity and an occasional rain that lasted for like 4 hours. Took my camera and a couple of film rolls. This is what I saw:

Kowloon view with the 118 story building sticking out.

Our office for the week.

View from the office where we worked from.

It’s extremely humid here, AC is mandatory.

Cool van on the left, cool bodega on the right: Sunday’s Grocery, sandwiches, and the chicken! Whiskey and a beer. They have it all.

Fresh meat being cut and sold right out of the butcher shop.

Night Market, to get everything for the low. Couple of fake Roly’s lying around.

Bobby and Ben met with us later in the week. They showed up right in time for dinner, then we hit the streets.

Erica, Head Apparel Designer doesn’t like her photo taken. Pat our Creative Director doesn’t like it either.

Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival happening in front of our hotel.

Ben C. HK OG.

Found some courts to play soccer and basketball. The energy was felt with people yelling at each other across the park.

Bridge walkways from one side of a mall to another. Shopping is something unexplainable out here.

We hit the ferry to get from Kowloon to Central.
