All week long, I’ve been procrastinating on writing this blog entry. Ten years old. We turn ten today. I didn’t really know what to write about that, that I haven’t already. In a way, it’s sorta anticlimactic. You expect to hit ten years in Streetwear and there’s an all-over-print trophy at the foot of your bed or at least some kind of Coolguy certificate or ribbon. Can I at least get a phone call from James Jebbia or Hiroshi?

But I guess that makes a ton of sense. Because it was never about the destination as much as it was the journey.

The most boring and disappointing part of the Wizard of Oz was the end. It’s been years since I’ve seen the movie so it’s even harder to remember how their journey concluded, but it was pretty forgettable. Something about the Wizard just being some sad crusty dude and Dorothy waking up from a bad dream.

The real meat of the film was the adventure and process. And not even all the sing-song-y, cheerful parts, but the fights with the flying monkeys and the Scarecrow getting ripped from limb to limb and the hanging munchkin in the forest. The hard and difficult parts, the crazy parts. That’s what the movie was about — the trials and tribulations and the lessons learned — and that was Dorothy’s realization, her coming-of-age.

I don’t really have much to write about turning ten years old because I’ve been writing it for the past 10 years. Nothing I write or express today can amount to the gratitude I could express and the knowledge we’ve gained in our span. And for Ben and I, and everyone on the squad past and present, today is just another day to chase this idea we had a decade ago. An idea that made a lot of sense, seemed a lot of fun, and captivated our minds. Ten years later, we’re still here. We’ve got the brand and the line, the stores, the worldwide distribution and notoriety, but it’s still just us. A couple of guys, best friends and brothers, already working on the next ten years. In our world, you’re only as good as your last t-shirt, so it’s back to the drawing board, quite literally.

Day 1 of The Hundreds, 2013 ’til infinity. Here we go.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. On behalf of Ben and The Hundreds,
