…and these are my favorite *vertical photographs of the past year:
You know Jack. I still wave to him every morning when I get into work.
May Day. Amped on adrenaline and bent on a cause, protestors took to the streets of downtown LA for the annual pro-immigration rallies. While most organized peacefully with signs and bullhorns, this guy used his entire body to make a statement. Their more antagonizing tactics were media fishbait as reporters sensationalized the ordeal. They certainly got my attention.
I was at Olivia Munn’s place on a late Sunday night and she was surfing the web. I grabbed my camera. Olivia’s blowing up in the entertainment world, she’s hands-down the busiest person I know and is always on the go. Always a million miles a minute with this girl, but just for a moment, her universe paused.
As I wrote onthe afternoon we saw this bird devouring a mouseat Bunker Hill Park, “The context of nature in the smog and brick is still pretty powerful.”
The Hundreds DeLorean was one of our biggest collaboration projects of 2009, where The Hundreds actually worked on a car. I think the JAGS pattern worked perfectly with the DeLorean’s shape and lines, but then again, it shouldn’t be surprising. After all, the DeLorean DMC-12’s design inspired JAGS itself.
I really like how the tones of this photograph developed, like a syrupy bordeaux. You probably remember this girl who so graciously let me photograph her at Nickel Diner. I know some of you definitely do because you lurked her out hardcore on Twitter and Flickr and before you know it, she was sending me confused emails about who all our deranged followers were. Anyways, once again, for your stalking pleasure:
