They wouldn’t let me bring my Megatron camera inside the Michael Jackson Memorial, but I’m sure most of you caught the highlights on TV anyways. And if not, then you obviously couldn’t care less about it regardless, so no worries.
The real scene was outside, once the 17,000 attendees exited the building and said their final farewells to the King of Pop. Many of these folks had traveled from around the world to be at Staples for the tribute, so you could hear a multitude of accents and foreign languages throughout the morning. The iconic fedoras were commonplace, with many fans adorning a bedazzled glove. Michael Jackson t-shirts were everywhere, most of ’em bootleg and bought on the street corner for $10 a pop.
The vast majority of the mourners were chill, guilty of nothing more than being diehard Michael Jackson fans. But there was a fair share of crazies as well…
