There aren’t any popular websites anymore, just popular blogs really. When I started my first blog back at the turn of the millenium, it was just called web-logging, and the only losers who invested time in their own web-log were professional writers or emotionally-challenged weirdos who resorted to an online diary to air their life’s grievances. I guess not much has changed, it’s just more socially acceptable now.
I have a daily blogroll that scrolls into the hundreds (pun intended). What goes into a good blog? Updated frequently and consistently (reliability), good writing, even better imagery, and most importantly, a sense of personality and style.
Here are our favorite websites/blogs of 2008.

BOBBY (ME): Animation Backgrounds
One of my top blogs is ANIMATION BACKGROUNDS, which is an intriguing experiment. Rob Richards trolls through some of our favorite cartoon classics and digitally removes the characters from the shot, putting the spotlight on the scene’s environment. It goes to show how these landscape shots are works of art in themselves. Try Alice in Wonderland, The Skeleton Dance, and of course, Peter Pan.
