A rework of the 1941 Murder on Lenox Avenue poster. The film starred an all-Black cast and stood as a marker of the “race film” era—independent productions made for Black audiences, by Black creatives, between 1915 and the early ’50s. Outside the grip of Hollywood, these stories carved space for Black actors, directors, and writers at a time when the industry offered little more than stereotypes. What they built instead was something real—community, complexity, and craft against the odds.
