This shirt was originally released in 2008 as part of a collaboration with Purist Boutique in San Francisco.
Youth culture tends to romanticize the era that came two decades before — a cycle of nostalgia and revival that continues to shape fashion and media. In the early 2000s, during The Hundreds’ formative years, we drew inspiration from ‘80s comics and ‘90s cartoons. Now, twenty years later, we find ourselves looking back at the 2000s — a time when anime took center stage as the storytelling medium of choice.
Bobby grew up on Dragon Ball Z, Sailor Moon, Trigun: The Planet Gunsmoke, and Cowboy Bebop. More recently, The Hundreds teamed up with One Piece, cementing our ongoing connection to the genre. This Anime Adam graphic nods to the global rise of Asian pop culture and the personal fandom that has powered it from the start.
