LOS ANGELES – Next week, streetwear brand The Hundreds is collaborating with the Yale School of Art on a unique student-driven collection that expands the scope of what fine art can be in modern times.
As the art community evolves exponentially by the day, moving from galleries to the metaverse and beyond, it was important for us to take a look at one of the oldest and highly respected institutions to see how they were adapting. The Hundreds connected with faculty at the prestigious Yale School of Art earlier this year and began work on a project that would both showcase the work of students honing their craft and explore the notion that art can live anywhere, and not just on a canvas.
The Hundreds X Yale School of Art collection features three Tote Bags, perfect for hauling all of your art supplies to the studio or your groceries back home. Each bag is emblazoned with the original art of a just-graduated student from the Yale School of Art, all using vastly different mediums to convey their message.
Kymberly Pinder, Dean of the Yale School of Art, said of the project, “Being the top art school means that what Yale does, others follow. I hope to work with our faculty and students to see how far our educational project here can impact the world. What happens when 100+ talented and thoughtful makers come together, collaborate and discover for the purpose of effecting change?”
The Hundreds X Yale School of Art collection will be available on Thursday, October 14 on The Hundreds App and Online Shop, as well as The Hundreds flagship store at 501 N Fairfax in Los Angeles. All proceeds from the sale of the collection will be donated back to the Yale School of Art.
