Earlier this year, our co-founder Bobby Hundreds expressed a longing to revive the seemingly lost movie theater culture. When you go to the movies now, there’s more excitement behind the popcorn buckets and what out-of-pocket design survived all the rounds of approval. Some of these pristine popcorn buckets, still in plastic wrap, are selling for $90 on eBay as the collectibility fixations grow within the film communities. To us, this phenomenon signals something much larger.
For one, the movie industry was largely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. With ticket sales plummeting, theaters shutting down, and films rolling out marketing campaigns absent of theatrical debuts, the landscape of cinema was altered irreversibly. Many think pieces and podcasters sparked their commentary around the looming question: Is the film industry dying?
But years out now, we know that the answer was no, the movie industry was not dying. It was simply evolving. What we couldn’t foresee at the time was the forced transformation of the movie industry was about to coincide with the search for communal third spaces. For many, the answer lay in returning to the theaters. Attendance is slowly inching higher and higher each year to the pre-pandemic numbers. But what’s making the real rounds online isn’t about the films themselves. It’s surrounding the limited-edition popcorn buckets, cups, and beverages. Yet, there’s still one thing missing from the movie theater collectible fervor: t-shirts.

We’re proud to announce that we’ve teamed up with AMC Theatres to bring you that missing piece. We worked together to create two limited-edition graphic t-shirts inspired by our everyday lives. The graphic tees are available exclusively at AMC Theatres.
