Famously known for being a hotbed in the dark international trade of counterfeit goods, today, government officials in Hong Kong announced their latest bust of goods estimated to be worth over $387,000 USD. Being the biggest bust in over ten years, the government stated that over 30,000 pieces of merchandise was counterfeit—including luxury watches, bags, perfumes, and sneakers. The fashion industry on average loses up to $9.2 billion a year to counterfeiters across the globe, so this is only a splash in the bucket.
