Most of you know Hannah Hooper as the female presence of Grouplove, but what you may not know is that she’s incredibly masterful with a paintbrush. In fact, it’s her art that took her to the residency in Greece where she and the rest of the bandmates met. What happened next was just a happy accident. Another piece of trivia: she’s also responsible for all of the band’s album art, including album covers, t-shirts and posters. Hooper’s solo show, “I’m With You” is currently on display at Monk Space Gallery in Los Angeles, and features original paintings of ill-fated pop icons and sandy beaches crowded with colorful swimmers, as well as album artwork spanning from the early days of the band until now. The Chipotle Cultivate sponsored exhibition came together after Grouplove played Denver’s Chipotle Cultivate Festival back in 2012. The occasion marks the first time the foundation, which helps support family farms and sustainable agriculture, has partnered up with a musical artist in this manner. The show closes today, September 19th. We encourage you to stop by and check out Ms. Hooper’s handiwork. Grouplove’s second album, Spreading Rumours, dropped yesterday on iTunes and is already making its way to the top of the charts.
