Since it’s Father’s Day, most of us are probably experiencing a deluge of dad photos across social media today – alongside refreshing portraits of unconventional father figures and single moms. To celebrate this day, we’re sharing what writer/general bad ass Tabatha McGurr (@tabathammm) just posted on Instagram: Postcards from her dad – also known as legendary graffiti artist Futura (@futuradosmil) – from his travels around the world. Here, she shares a bit about what life was like growing up as his daughter:
“growing up my dad always traveled a ton, and ever since i could read he’d send me sweet little postcards from almost everywhere he went—or sometimes even from home. we kind of had our own secret language. coming home to find those in the mail after school was the best, and even then with my early onset baby nostalgia i knew to save every single one. father’s day or not, i find myself skimming through them every so often, and i can never avoid getting struck with happy tears.”
