Michael Collins AKA Drugdealer's New Video for "Suddenly" Ft. Weyes Blood

Michael Collins AKA Drugdealer's New Video for "Suddenly" Ft. Weyes Blood

Baltimore producer Michael Collins, previously RUN DMT and Salvia Plath and one-half of Silk Rhodes (yes, the duo that played one of our first Spitsets), is set to release another mesmerizing musical project under the moniker Drugdealer. Michael takes his unique style—we like to think of it as distressed pastel-colored nostalgia on acid—to a new track with vocals by Mexican Summer affiliate Weyes Blood aka Natalie Mering. The single off the upcoming Drugdealer album The End of Comedy, titled “Suddenly,” highlights Mering’s melancholic, meandering ’70s vocals over a slow rise reminiscent of “Close to You” by The Carpenters, that shifts into saxophone-backboned baroque pop. “Suddenly” is apt to transport you—somewhere, in its inviting, silky, familiarity. Listen below.

Read Collins’s 2013 interview with Interview Magazine here, and watch out for Drugdealer’s The End Of Comedy, with features by Ariel Pink and Sheer Agony, out September 9 on Weird World.
