fragment design x Oakley for the Pool Aoyama – High-end stores are plentiful in Japan and when the Pool opens up their new location in Aoyama, some exclusives have to be had. Maintaining the sunny pool theme are a pair of Oakley Frogskins designed by Hiroshi Fujiwara’s fragment design. The “Buena Vista” arrives in a stealthy all-black with subtle branding along the arms and temple. With the Frogskins Wayfarer-esque design it fits nearly any face, and you can always bet on black (ask Wesley Snipes).

TomTom Cardio – With the most recent announcement by Samsung, LG, and Google, the upcoming batch of smartwatches will all come equipped with a built-in heart rate monitor. TomTom has lost a ton of market share in the GPS market and is following suit with their Runner Cardio and Multi-Cardio. Both watches skip the annoying chest strap for heart-rate monitoring with a built-in optical heart rate reader placed right along the watches’ bracelet. The watch is a training tool for purists and uses TomTom’s expertise in GPS to offer reliable distance tracking, along with managing training intensity. It’s hard to see both pieces usurping the hype that the Android ecosystem has garnered, but it’s good to see the Dutch company trying.

Old Faithful Waste Bin – I’ll be the first to admit there are a lot of things I don’t understand. A $50 trash can is high on that list when any old Amazon box serves just as well. But, then again the waste bin by Old Faithful isn’t made for people like me. They’re made for those who love and respect the beauty of their home, especially the kitchen. The waste bin is constructed from top-grade steel; not that flimsy stuff used for canned soup. It also has a nice powder coated finish, and the lid is topped off with a nickel plated handle. It’s about as handsome as trash goes, and available now.

New Balance 577 Seaside – The 577 is beautiful runner that captures all the classic looks of New Balance. From the mudguard on the heel to the mesh along the toe box, the 577 is a reliable runner with plenty of charm. It returns this spring in a new Seaside colorway. Inspired by the beach season, aquamarine green is blended with orange and navy suede. The British flag is sewn into a heel as a reminder that these particular 577s were proudly made in the United Kingdom. The 577s also come with a special commemorative Seaside tag on the tongue. A stroll on the boardwalk will be just a bit better with the blast of color from these new 577s.
