I barely missed BURN. By the time I entered the scene in the early ‘90s, the seminal New York hardcore outfit had just disbanded after two short and violent years, leaving in its wake a mythology and reverence for one of the greatest to ever do it. What canonized BURN was their charismatic singer Chaka, their dynamic live performances, unapologetic and brash hardcore, and a raw and visceral sound that resonated through generations of punk.
25 years after BURN coalesced, we’re proud to bring you this exclusive collaboration on the eve of their West Coast reunion show. It was an honor to have worked closely with vocalist Chaka Malik and guitarist Gavin Van Vlack throughout the entire process, incorporating my photography with the classic BURN aesthetic.
This is what an authentic collaboration is all about: a great story that ties worlds together, a reflection of collective ideals and experiences, and most of all, heart. I wasn’t around to witness BURN the first time around, but good things come to those who wait. This is The Hundreds and BURN.
The Hundreds X Burn collection is available only in The Hundreds Online Shop and through Burn’s outlets. The capsule includes a coach’s jacket and T-shirt, both in two colorways of black and purple.
