So if you’ve never been to SXSW before (like me, up until like 72 hours ago), these musicians are showcased throughout the week whether officially at night by SXSW-sanctioned events or during the daytime through unofficial shows. As of recent, the unofficial stuff is swelling even more influentially than the SXSW gigs- venues like the Thrasher House, Pitchfork tent, and Fader Fort are an example of that. Most artists play for FREE (true story) and numerous times throughout the week, largely in abbreviated 15-20 minute sets, some as often as 5 times in a day. They shuttle around from showcase to showcase to expose their art to as many fans, media, and industry people as possible. Thus, why we’re seeing GAYNGS again. But also because they are effing incredible.
