Jeremy from House/House33 is my hero of the week. Last week it was Britney Spears’s mom, and the week before, it was probably the guy who green-lighted VH1’s “I Love New York,” but yes, this week, definitely Jeremy.
Mainly because he just compiled a folder of images for me of his vintage collection of first generation, early ’90s streetwear shirts. It’s interesting to see where this entire culture was birthed from (all these brands were/are L.A.-based might I add…), and how history is somewhat repeating itself.. not only in terms of graphic content and color choices, but also the resurgence of the brands themselves: Freshjive, Fuct, and now even Gypsies & Thieves. Take note, kids.
Hang Ten (remember these?):
Split (I bought this same shirt in Yellow, even though it was a size too small for me and never wore it. Just because I liked the character so much. Talk about hypebeasting.)
Freshjive (anything look familiar?)
Fuct and X-Large:
and the long-dormant Gyspies & Thieves (GAT):
