So now, with the help of Squarespace, you can binge watch “Surplus Candy” over your unwashed bowl of yesterday’s unfinished mystery meat. Hanksy travels to six major cities – Montreal, Detroit, Philadelphia, Portland, Chicago, Austin – to scrape out the hidden truths of their street art scenes and toss it into the light. So below, you have your pickings of which city to tackle first, check it out.

EPISODE 1 :: MONTREAL

Hanksy kicked off his six part international conquest of all things street art with Canada’s mural mecca-to-be, Montreal. Home to the budding Mural Fest, where artists from all four corners of the globe come to create massive murals, Hansky sits down with some participants like Stikki Peaches, Kashink, and more to learn their insights on the state of street art today and their take on the festival.

EPISODE 2 :: DETROIT

With Episode 2, Hanksy landed in the city that was once America’s backbone, Detroit. Having filed for bankruptcy in 2013, Detroit wobbles right on top the memories of an illustrious city that brought us Motown and more. Hanksy trudges through the Midwest rubble to meet up with local artists like Eno Laget and city-funded organizations like Recycle Here that use street art to give the city creative CPR. Whether or not street art is a necessary step forward here lies in the paint-covered hands of the artists that live in it. Find out how they’re doing it below:

EPISODE 3 :: PHILADELPHIA

In the Philly episode, Hanksy unpacks the rising popularity of street art craft in the past couple of years. What exactly happens to street art in a city that’s embraced it for the past 3 decades? Hanksy talks to paper cut-out artist Joe Boruchow, a “yarn bomber” named Ishknits, an anonymous trickster named Kid Hazo, who installs realistic-looking street signs, and more.

EPISODE 4 :: PORTLAND

Hanksy, with the help of Squarespace heads out to Portland, Oregon to see what street art the infamously trendy city has to offer. What he finds is a nearly absent scene; though upon further investigation he’s able to see is the city’s ability to adapt to an extremely regulated government war on street art. Expand your perception of what street art can be alongside Hanksy in this Portland episode.

EPISODE 5 :: CHICAGO

Take a trip to the birthplace of Hanksy himself. Here, he returns to his roots to gain a refreshed insight on the burgeoning street art world of Chicago. Only to find that Chicago underwent an artistic explosion and is still attempting to catch up. So Hanksy travels from niche to niche to see just where this new scene is heading towards.

EPISODE 6 :: AUSTIN

Hanksy gets to experience the true meaning of southern hospitality while visiting Austin, Texas. Through prowling the streets he’s able to find groups like Spray TX who are comprised of artists banding together to make it clear that their main goal is to bring together the creative community. Check out exactly how weird artists are trying to keep Austin in “Surplus Candy” final episode – Austin.
