BEST OF THE BEST 2008 : MOVIES / VIDEOS

BEST OF THE BEST 2008 : MOVIES / VIDEOS

If you haven’t noticed by now, we’ve included a “STAFF PICKS” section in our Online Shop, where you can find some of The Hundreds’ personal selections from our Holiday 2008 catalog.

And to end 2008, I’ll be running STAFF PICKS of other things sporadically throughout the rest of December. First up, everyone’s favorite movie or video of the past year:

BOBBY (ME): Slumdog Millionaire

Without having to get into The Dark Knight semantics, I’m gonna go with Slumdog Millionaire for this one. Primarily because it’s an incredible feat of storytelling (which often makes me fall for those M.Night Shyamalan flicks). I got the same feeling watching this movie as I do with reading a good book, if that makes any sense. Of course, Rachel Getting Married is also up there, and call me crazy but I actually liked Indiana Jones 4 and Wanted. Did I forget to say Fully Flared?

SWITCH:PART OF THE WEEKEND NEVER DIES

“A documentary about Soulwax on their recent world tour. Filmed at 120 shows with one camera, in Europe, Japan, US, Latin America and Australia. The outcome was a snapshot of life on the road with one of the most exciting live acts I’ve seen since Daft Punk. The film includes interviews, as well as behind-the-scenes footage of the band and their friends including 2manyDJ’s, James Murphy & Nancy Whang (LCD Soundsystem), Erol Alkan, Justice, Busy P, So-Me, Klaxons and many more.”
