PREMIERE :: R&B Songstress Joyce Wrice Debuts New Video For "Do You Love Me"

The Hundreds is so proud to premiere LA-based R&B singer/songwriter Joyce Wrice’s new music video “Do You Love Me,” a track produced by Stone Throw’s own MNDSGN, and co-written by SiR. You might recognize Joyce from vocal features on tracks with Dom Kennedy and Jay Prince, but the 24-year-old songstress recently released her own ambitious EP, Stay Around, just last week. Joyce’s beautiful voice has been described as “effortless and ethereal” by Viper Mag, and it definitely rings true with her latest collection of work.

“Do You Love Me” is an emotional track that delves into the feelings of confusion, frustration, and heartbreak that pair hand-in-hand with love and admiration. Joyce’s lyrics affirm these complex states: “But you always find a way to keep my around/Where do we go from here?/Please don’t tell me what I wanna hear.” On the inspiration behind the track, she says, “During that time, I was really dealing with rejection and trying to cope with it and that song plays off of that… with a little twist of made up shit.”

She met producer MNDSGN two years ago through director Alima Jennings (right around the time we interviewed him), resulting in a winning collaboration. “At the time, I had just moved to LA and was really looking for producers to work with. Fortunately, Alima found out that I record music and she felt like me and MNDSGN would click really well.” MNDSGN sent over a selection of beats, including the one for “Do You Love Me,” ultimately catching Joyce’s attention. She recorded the first round of vocals on GarageBand and the rest is history.

For the music video, despite a little camera shyness, Joyce says she vibed hard with director @TOPSHELFJUNIOR, who visually captured the feelings the emotionally-charged lyrics touch upon. “I’m a little shy sometimes,” Joyce told The Hundreds, “but I’m really glad that I was able to get out of my comfort zone and really perform my song.”
