Fort Minor Unveils a 360-Degree Music Video

10 years after the release of The Rising Tied, which saw him branch away from his supergroup Linkin Park, LA icon Mike Shinoda has surprised longtime fans with a new release from his Fort Minor solo project. Dropping a 3D-filmed treatment titled “Welcome,” Shinoda has positioned himself deeply into the new VR world with his new music video shot in Venice by director Jeff Nicholas. “I chose to shoot it here in Venice because I feel like there’s a lot of freaks and outcasts down here on the boardwalk — and I mean that in a good way,” Shinoda told Mashable. The brand new video features a complete 360-degree view, giving the viewer the ability to look around at their own free will and essentially choose their experience of the video. The feature is only compatible with Google Chrome—providing an arrow key function—and the YouTube app, where you get to physically turn your body to see your surroundings.
