This shirt is an ode to the origin story behind Downtown Los Angeles’s Spring Street. The portrait in the graphic is that of Trinidad Ortega, a member of an early California historical family. It’s an old illustration found in a long ago published issue of the LA Times. It was said that the map surveyor who was in charge of laying out Los Angeles’s city streets was in love with Trinidad, and nicknamed her Primavera, which means “spring” in Spanish. Spring Street is a living monument to their love.
