Two years after his Apocalypse ode to the recently-deceased musical prodigy Austin Peralta, LA eccentric soul Stephen Bruner – better known as Thundercat – has surprised the music world with his announcement of his new mini album, The Beyond / Where The Giants Roam. Having spent the last few years with his powerful bass setting the template for albums by Flying Lotus, and this year’s epic To Pimp a Butterfy, Thundercat has returned to the stage with his new single “Them Changes.” Accompanied by close collaborator Kamasi Washington, who blows a solid tone throughout the track, this is a marked return for the Brainfeeder veteran. Look for the release of the album on June 22.
