Pretty Babes & Pretty Pennies

Yesterday I had the pleasure of shooting the lovely Aurielle again.  Kelsey Stengle styled the shoot bringing some amazing pieces from her adorable shop Pretty Pennies.  Pretty Pennies has something for every kinda girl, it’s like a mix tape of fashion awesomeness & I have just become a loyal costumer.  You should too, check out their stuff online.  You will not be disappointed.  And now here’s the beautiful Aurielle:

Yesterday was Torey’s DVS Shoe Release Party @ Diamond and Beer Pong Tournament Situation

Then we went to Mountain Bar for the premier of Daniel Haney’s video Natural Disaster.

This baby was not there.

I’m a fan of his work.

Then, like always, people got crazy.

Headed back to the house for lots more insanities.

Lots of bromantical occurrences.

2nd premier of Natural Disaster in Yuto’s room.

We Love Neivz!

Yesterday Lauren & I took a trip to Steven Shein‘s studio.  We were lucky enough to witness the tedious process that goes down to make his beautiful hand made jewelry.  He has a rad new product brand out NEIVZ and we highly suggest you check it out!

The magic makingz beginz!

Yesterday I took some photos for Chanel, or as you may know her, Rob’s rapping receptionist.   Makeup was done by the lovely Aimee.  If you follow Chanel on Twitter then you know the new season of Fantasy Factory is premiering next Monday @ 9:30, make sure to watch this cray cray lil rapper.  She also is working on a mix- tape due to release next month.  Here’s some shots of what we did!

If Every Angel’s Terrible Then Why Do You Welcome Them

Last night we went to see CocoRosie at the beautiful Orpheum theatre.

Cibelle opened.  It was amazing, I had never heard her music before. Her voice is awesome and I dug her dope beats mixed in with animal noises.

Bus Driver was next, they were rad.  Listen to their music if you haven’t yet, and if you can go to one of their shows, do it.  They’re insane live.

Then the beautiful CocoRosie came on.  I can’t even explain their performance.  I almost cried when they played Lemonade.  Besides being amazingly talented musicians they are incredible performers.

If you can see them live, you definitely should.  If you don’t, you’re an idiot.

Right Meow: Lily L

This week I talked with clothing designer Lily L.

Where did you grow up
In Santa Rosa, CA.  Sonoma County/Bay Area.

When did you start sewing
I first started learning some sewing from my mom when I was like 10, but we would just sew simple things.  I really started focusing on it more seriously and taking classes for it when I was 14.

When did you know you wanted to become a designer
I always liked drawing clothing, but didn’t actually think of doing it as a career until I was 14.

Who has influenced you the most
My mom, she is such a strong person, and she always supports me in pursuing my dreams. She’s always been there for me.  She believes in me.  She’s constant.

This year, what do you hope to accomplish
I hope to accomplish a lot.  My goal is to stay busy with pursuing my clothing design career, this year and many more to come.  I feel like if I’m too specific I’m not going to be setting the bar high enough for myself.

Proudest moment so far
Seeing people buy and wear my clothing!  It’s the most amazing feeling seeing someone wear what I’ve designed.  I love every single person who has worn my designs.  I don’t think they know how much it really means to me.  Like when I saw the lovely Hanna Beth wear the custom dress I designed for her on the red carpet of the Young Hollywood awards this year, I got so happy.

Any projects you’re currently working on
Currently I’m working on promoting my new collection that I just launched on LilyL.com.  I’m also starting to design a couple party dresses that I will be releasing in early Fall.

Favorite designer
Christophe Decarnin for Balmain.  Love what he is doing, really amazing.
Also, Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough of Proenza Schouler.  They’re great designers!

Least favorite thing about this industry
Oh just that some people think you have to be really blunt and pretty much rude to be in this industry.  It’s not true, you can be thoughtful and kind, but just stand firm behind what you believe.  You definitely have to be strong and take a lot of rejection and criticism, but I think it’s important to stay who you are and not let it sour your attitude.

Favorite quote
“Please believe that things are good with me, and even when they’re not, they will be soon enough.” from ‘The Perks of Being a Wallflower’ by Stephen Chbosky

I Was Only Joking When I Said I’d Like To Smash Every Tooth In Your Head

Last night we went to Space 15 twenty to “celebrate the collaboration shoe and the release of Atiba Jefferson’s first-book, a history of 15 years of photos working with éS”

Brandon looking dapper

In case yer wondering who this babe is in every post, it’s the homegirl Bago.  She helped start the non profit Hip To Help in SF cos she rules and is now in LA.  Lotsa more cool things coming from this one.
