The Hundreds is proud to present the “Chuco” jacket and “Zoots” pants, available in limited quantities at all flagship locations and in the Online Shop. A nod to the Zoot Suit era of the ’40s and Los Angeles Pachuco culture, we aimed to pay homage to the styles they wore with pride—exaggerated boxy jackets, excessive fabric, and high-waisted wide-legged pegged pants—and Sleepy Lagoon. A local hangout for Chicano youth in the ‘40s and named after a popular Jack Lawrence song, Sleepy Lagoon was a local hangout in the ’40s for Southern California Chicano youth. The reservoir was also the site of an unsolved murder that played a pivotal role in the Zoot Suit Riots of 1943. Although rooted in historical tragedy and prejudice, the Zoot Suit era stands as a testament to Chicano resistance, and has left an indelible mark of influence on Los Angeles culture and us here at The Hundreds.

Fusing streetwear and tailored menswear, the “Chuco” jacket is made of fine cotton poly suiting fabric with fully-lined taffeta, a “Rose” embroidery on the handkerchief pocket, and a “Sleepy Lagoon” screen print across the back. The “Zoot” pant features an elastic encased waistband, dual front slant pockets, dual back welt pockets, and a double-pleated front leg with permanent creases in a cropped, tapered fit.
