Festivities commence at 10 pm and will press on till the wee hours of the night (or morning, depending on who’s asking). The Hundreds is pleased to announce the release of the “Hawaii” collection, encompassing a 7-piece capsule line and accompanying mixtape. The collection will be available exclusively at The Hundreds’ Hawaii stockists (Blue Hawaii, Prototype, One Eighty Boardshop, Island Snow, Know1 and In4mation) beginning Friday, May 24th, 2013. To celebrate the two-part release of The Hundreds’ “Hawaii” collection, Ben and Bobby Hundreds will be holding a signing at Blue Hawaii’s Pearlridge location on Saturday, May 25th,, from 2-4 pm. Powers DJs Micah Banks and Nick Ferrer will also be hosting a separate release party that very night, Saturday, May 25th, from 10 pm – 4 am at Addiction Nightclub inside The Modern Hotel (1775 Ala Moana Blvd, Honolulu).
“Hawaii is a second home to me. My wife essentially grew up on the island, so Hawaii is a sizable part of my life and my heart. I always say that I’m going to disappear here one day… The Hundreds Hawaii is a seasonal collection we put together to showcase this passion for the island and community, to give back for all I’ve been inspired by, and to partner with an entire community and culture that we respect and love. In the product, we try to showcase and pay homage to local spots and traditions. We don’t take it lightly that the locals support a mainland/outsiders’ brand, and we just want them to know that The Hundreds Hawaii is a way to give back and reciprocate that love.”

The OE Lines t-shirt – I dig it in all colorways, but this yellow/black combo was inspired by the old-school Orchard Street logo tees (shout-out Greig!) and features the B-Boy-style iron-on Old English we initially introduced 5 years ago with the REMIX series.
and the Civil Disobedience t-shirt, which features one of my favorite Thoreau quotes on — you guessed it — CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE.

And this summer (well, like every summer for as long as I can remember), it’s all about black tees and black shorts. We’ve got the classic black shorts down to a science with the Lilys.

This is the “Hyenas” crewneck sweatshirt from our Winter 2012 line. Briana’s modeling it for us, although I should probably denote that it (like all of our product) only comes in Men’s. And I’m photographing her in my new office today.
The “Hyenas” were a response to the aggressive ‘animal’ illustration shirts popularized by high-end fashion houses like Givenchy. Perhaps you’ve seen them, the barking Rottweiler or the more recent oversized shark print. Fashion can be kinda silly sometimes, with all the pretense and posturing. And so for us, a Streetwear brand, to riff off of one of the upper-echelon’s most familiar hits (artwork by the esteemed Joe King), the idea was to poke a little fun at the whole situation in the context of a similar style. But this time, instead of a toughguy creature who takes itself too seriously, how about a trio of laughing hyenas?
The world perceives them as lowly scavengers (and maybe the fashion world sees us as the same, lifting off their existing creation), but hyenas rise above, strength in numbers, with a smirk, finding humor and levity in their situation. And that’s what The Hundreds is all about.
