CITY OF GODS.

#

This is The Hundreds Brazil.  Sinistro, Renan, Cody, Deng Hundreds, of course that’s Ben, and not pictured is Mura.

For the better part of the week, our crew down here guided us through the neighborhoods of Sao Paulo, from the glossy storefronts of Jardines to the bohemian avenues of Vila Madalena…

…to the top of Hotel Unique:

On top of the Ayrton Senna tunnel are the towers that our close friend Tofer worked on. Nice to be on a different continent and run into a friend from back home. Makes the world feel like a very small place.

Renan wasn’t always The Hundreds’ Brazilian distributor.  This country has historically bred some of the world’s top talent in skateboarding, from Bob Burnquist and Lincoln Ueda back in the vert days to Rodrigo TX today.  Renan also followed that route from when he was a lil’ grom in the ’80s, but his pro skate dive into the States didn’t pan out exactly, so years later, he’s stuck with me all day in traffic!

The Brazilian people are so beautiful, full of life and color. Good vibes all around…

THE WRITING ON THE WALL.

Brazil is the future of the world.  Not only due to their booming economy, but because of their relatively young population, as well as the high diversity amongst its inhabitants.  Dude, when you mix Latins with Germans and Africans, stir ‘em in a pot, it’s a supermodel buffet down here.

According to the World Population Review, 62% of Brazil is under the age of 30, and with that, there’s a ginormous youth culture play in this country.  Although billboards and corporate advertising were banned from the city recently, street and graffiti art are as ubiquitous as ever – largely indicative of how prominently subculture runs amuck in Brazil, and how artistic and creative the people are.

Back in the day, the Galeria do Rock was a coliseum of music vendors, but as that industry has broken down, it’s been overrun with street and skate clothiers, as well as footwear boutiques, rock retailers and tattoo studios.

The Hundreds is stocked throughout a number of storefronts in the Galeria do Rock.  Our marketing rep Deng Hundreds stands tall with Tersio from Ichiban.

Morela from one of the Your ID shops:

Not too far from the Galeria is the office/warehouse space for Your ID, which is our prime stockist here in Sao Paulo.  Adilson, on the left, is the owner of the streetwear stores and online shop. The rest of the crew is out to lunch, but Thiago’s holding the fort down!

On the other side of the town is Your ID’s newest location.

Along with The Hundreds, here are the other brands you’ll find lining the shelves:

I really like this special Lacoste collection, with the primary color dip-dyes and reverse.

Plus, how often do you get the albino gator?

Say whatup to the shop staff at Your ID:

Brazil is the future of the world.  And The Hundreds is the future for Brazil.

ALL IN ONE.

Cartel 011 is a destination concept retail space in Sao Paulo, Brazil.  With a blacked-out exterior, the project often hosts special events as well as curating a home for all walks of creative talent.

Inside, you can find traditional retail for innovative designed product from housewares to fashion.

There’s also a gallery, which regularly rotates art exhibitions.

The back of the building segues into fine dining, with a sleek restaurant prime for business meetings or a night out.

Take the stairs to the second floor, which conceals office space.  Cartel 011 leases out the desks on a monthly basis.

There’s a barber shop/salon somewhere in here as well.  This place has it all.

Earlier in the day, we stopped by to visit our friends at Pretorian, which is an all-encompassing man’s brand.

Touching on all things testosterone, Pretorian’s retail is dedicated to bikes and leather and their in-house labels.

The brand is widely regarded in Brazil for it’s MMA connects.  Some of the top fighters in the country — as well as the Pretorian owners and staff, who were just here — train in the Pretorian gym, which is right above the shop:

On the very top floor is the showroom, where we find everything from Pretorian hoodies to women’s:

This is the homey Zero aka Discokilla, he’s the designer here at Pretorian and also a huge The Hundreds fan.

He’s responsible for everything from the graphics to the cut/sew to the gloves:

Their other in-house label is Top Hat, which is more up Zero’s alley.

There’s something for everyone in Brazil…
