BLACK LINES.

#

Another year, another Black Friday.  We’ve been running this post-Thanksgiving sale since ’07, so this is our sixth!  A lot of our friends and foes have caught on since then, with Black Friday sales touching on almost every brand and store and online shop in Streetwear. So we are very much grateful – super thankful – that you guys still participate in The Hundreds Black Friday, still turn out for the biggest and baddest lines, for the biggest and baddest deals.

Plus, don’t forget, although the sale at our flagship locations is over, our online Black Friday experience continues.  60% off Spring and Summer product until Monday, while supplies last!

I started off my night at The Hundreds Santa Monica:

Meanwhile, this was the scene up north at The Hundreds San Francisco:

3 hours earlier, this is how things went down for The Hundreds New York‘s Black Friday:

And then I drove cross-town to check in on The Hundreds Los Angeles.

Pretty cool to see how far we’ve come, our customers, Fairfax, and Streetwear in general.  Black Friday has turned into a massive phenomenon, an epidemic.

Anyways, it was nice to run into Chris and Carly on their late-night dog walk.  They’ve been friends of ours since day one, so it put everything into perspective for us.  Still core. Still here.

BLACK FRIDAY 2011.

#, #, #, #

Over the years, you’ve seen The Hundreds Black Friday sales shut down Fairfax and Rosewood, and as we’ve opened more stores around the country, the commotion’s only multiplied.  This year we had 4 stores to give our customers a huge holiday break, 2 of ‘em right here in Los Angeles.

But first, here’s NA’s view of the inside of The Hundreds New York’s Black Friday:

and then up to San Francisco, where the line crawled so far down Post Street, Micah couldn’t even get it all in one shot:

And back here to L.A.  First stop, this year’s sleeper surprise, The Hundreds Santa Monica:

Ben and I had a bet as to which Los Angeles shop would fare better. He had all his chips on THLA, but THSM creamed all 3 other stores with its hands tied behind its back.  Easy.  Thanks to all the THSM loyalists, and the smarter The Hundreds Black Friday shoppers who proved me right! lulz

One of the best collaborations The Hundreds has ever dealt:

Last time I saw this dude was at Arcade Fire:

Guy in the middle’s name is MELLOW. Chill, bruh.

This is my dude right here. The Cool Kid.

Surprisingly, 17 years old. Frightening.

Winner winner chicken dinner.

Etai means OUCH in Japanese.

The Hundreds Santa Monica – BROADWAY – Alley Cats:

“Yes mom, I’m on The Hundreds blog!”

Homegirl in the middle runs a blog called Thundercup.

Lalo with the 2nd-Gen The Hundreds x Diamond collaboration tee.

Kid on the left carries an unusual amount of cash on him. Did I just broadcast that?

Bonnie Hundreds and the top cat on Broadway: Nelson.

Now, 12 minutes away via emptied-out freeways and a clear Fairfax Ave., Streetwear Village is buzzing.  Nick Diamond’s new store is set to open along with the Odd Future Pop-Up shop.  Meanwhile, The Hundreds Los Angeles on Rosewood has been inundated with Black Friday shoppers all night long.

Gomez Warren IV back on hall monitor duty.

Somehow, Gomez gets random kids in line to perform pressure flips and 3-inch ollies for him in front of a crowd at 3am.  The bullhorn and N-bombs may have something to do with it.

This is what’s going on inside THLA.

This is becoming a pattern.

THREE’S A CROWD.

This year, we’re thankful for… All our dedicated The Hundreds diehards who camped out for days, slept overnight in freezing temperatures, skipped Thanksgiving dinner, and dealt with a 3am lineup in the rain to get inside our annual Black Friday sale.

Here’s the view from The Hundreds New York:

Onto The Hundreds San Francisco:

And of course The Hundreds LA, with our fattest line in the 4 years we’ve been doing Black Friday:

Danny‘s working on the THLA Black Friday video for you guys, of course Gomez makes a cameo.

THANKSGIVING BREAK.

#, #, #, #

This morning was our annual Black Friday at both The Hundreds LA and The Hundreds SF (and ONLINE, for the next 12 or so hours as a matter of fact).  When we first kicked off the Black Friday sale through The Hundreds, we were one of the few streetwear brands to do so. This year, seemed as if everyone wanted to go all BLACK FRIDAY everything.

But our customers weren’t deterred.  The doors opened at 4am today, but the first customers in line were here at 10am YESTERDAY.  Many of the kids in line had families who brought them turkey dinner to eat curbside, but most just skipped Thanksgiving altogether.  That’s dedication, folks.

How many customers told me they flew in from Hawaii for this year’s sale? Kinda crazy.  Lots of good parents who lost a night of sleep to stand in the cold with their kids.  For that matter, lots of good girlfriends and sisters who showed up with other girlfriends and sisters to take care of Christmas shopping.  Met a buncha you who were DeLorean fanatics, and amped on the upcoming collaboration. On another random note, met a lot of you fellow Twitterererers as well.

Clearly, this guy was the MVP.  Gomez plucked him out the crowd after he promised to break his pinky finger for a free hat.  Check the video for proof, no broken promises, just broken fingers.

The sale ended at 9am and by then, everyone was a blubbering mess.  Dude in the grey sweatshirt didn’t even bother claiming his spot in line, he was having so much fun with our host, Gomez Warren IV.  Hey, once again, thanks for settling the natives, Gomez.  Thanks to the THLA crew for holding down another chaotic Black Friday. And thanks to THSF who were just as victorious in the Bay… even with the RAIN.  See you all next year.

BAD NEWS.

#, #, #, #

This Friday, after our Black Friday Sale ends at THLA and THSF, at 11am, both The Hundreds stores will release BADAM to the world.  You may have seen Badam sneak up behind Adam Bomb here and there, being the genuine coolguy hater that he is, but now he’s finally yours to own.  2 colorways of the BADAM t-shirt. 3 colorways of the BADAM New Era 59/50 fitted cap.

Friday. Morning. 11am. THLA. THSF.

DRAWING BLACK FRIDAY LINES.

#, #, #

Black Friday 2008, The Hundreds Los Angeles.

Most of the crew got to Rosewood Ave. at 4am, but by then, the line was already in the hundreds (pun intended). Correct me if I’m wrong, but it reached further than any other line in TH history.

The first lot of customers were lined up in the early afternoon, foregoing Thanksgiving dinner to secure a 50%-off spot.  By nightfall, the line stretched down the street.  By midnight, it was past the market, onwards towards Clinton.

Decisions, decisions.

We implemented a 10-minute rule this time around for any customers in the store. Some of the angry mob outside were outraged if people overstayed their time limit, but it’s funny how the tables turned once they themselves made it inside.  Now, 10 minutes wasn’t long enough.

Hey, you missed one.

Gomez Warren IV braved the sleep-deprivation to keep the line entertained, with megaphone, baseball bat, and bags of candy in tow.

First contest.  Who will burn their non-TH shirt for a free logo tee?

“PUT IT ON!  PUT IT ON!”

The sun rises early.  The natives are getting restless.

Gomez infuriates a Russian toughguy, who starts to reach into the glove compartment… don’t bother Russian, it’s still no match for Gomez + a megaphone.

Second Contest.  Impromptu Dance-off.

The Jabbawockee-ish guy wins.

Wallace Hundreds was a faithful and stalwart comrade throughout today’s mission.

Responsible.

The line funneled down into a mob, which eventually dwindled down to an amorphous cluster by the end of the sale.

All good things must come to an end.  Chopping up the remainders of the 10%-off hour.

1-hour intermission as the sale finishes up and THLA prepares to open for regular business hours.

Cleanup.  Iron Mike is bummed.

Scotty iLL and Alex are bums in a bumfight.

1 hour later, our doors reopen to a fresh crowd with a fresh slate of fitted caps.  New Eras.  New line-up. It’s a new day.
