SXSW 2011 : CULTS

SXSW 2011 : CULTS

The best part about SXSW, and one of the primary reasons we’re here, is that unlike a run-of-the-mill music festival, this week-long showcase represents all facets of obscure and mainstream music genres. So from one venue to the next, you can bounce between an underground hip-hop set to weirdo hipster music, hardcore to lushy soft-rock. You can walk down one block and navigate through 11 different subcultures, streetwear kids butted up against a horde of punks, crust kids and then folk rockers. Like running through the entire Warriors movie in under a minute.

That being said, here’s one of my faves: CULTS. Although plagued with sound problems, technical difficulties, and wasps, they still churned out a captivating show.
