AGENDA NEW YORK.

This week is the Agenda Trade Show in New York. Usually, you see us exhibiting at Agenda in Huntington Beach, but for the first time, the show steps foot in the Big Apple.  It’s worked out perfectly for everyone involved thus far, and since we’re on the other seaboard, we’re gaining access and exposure to lots of accounts that aren’t typically accessible with West Coast shows.

I forced Scott and Josh of 10Deep to take this photo.

Nick at Boundless was having a great day.

Felix (Famous) and Olympic silver medalist in snowboarding, and really-fun-to-party-with Danny Kass (Grenade):

GRENADE.  Danny and Dingo are 2/3 of your worst nightmare. The last 1/3 belongs to cancer.

Kashia is the streetwear darling, but more importantly, works with Odyssey denim.  We just celebrated her 21st birthday at Goldbar. It was kinda sorta really really fun.

THIS GUY’S NAME IS CUMCOUCH AND I’M NOT KIDDING.

This guy’s name is Everybody Loves Ray Mate From Mighty Healthy NYC. And when you’re not around, he’s doing a really funny impression of you.

UP ON THE ROOFTOP.

So L.A.’s been having some awesome sunsets lately. But New York’s certainly keeping up.

Javs (How to Make it in America), Felix (Famous), Josh (10 Deep), NA (Deadline), Ben Hundreds, and Vlad (VANS).

Ease (Mishka) is maybe one of the best people ever.

Benny Hundos and the Empire State Building.

Ahh, to be young.

More from New York throughout this week…

RETALE.

Summer shopping spree around the city of Los Angeles.

Kick things off at Virgo at 216 E. 9th St.  Girls’ vintage clothes that have been modified to fit current trends.

Brooke is running things today.  The store was founded by 2 best friends, Alejandra and Rana.

Diamond Supply Co. on Fairfax Ave.

HUF LA on Fairfax.

American Rag on La Brea still has some of the best denim in the city.

But this is my favorite part:

And over on Melrose, there’s a lotta racket…

FULL OF SURPRISES.

The Hundreds’ core crew member Big Bert sends this from jail. No, really. FREE BERT.

We get sent a lotta cool stuff to the office, especially from young brand upstarts who are trying to get off the ground. I feel bad because I can’t post everything up here, but we do appreciate it all.  This one was out the box though, ..or should I say, in the box.

This guy Ha Mai wrote me a full report and presentation, personalized box and stickers, CDs, bagged t-shirts, everything.  I do gotta say, that presentation goes a LONG way with me.  So this is the least I can do..

CHECK OUT FUR FACE BOY !

And Dave Choe stopped by this week, to regale me with tales of his buddy Sasha Grey, Vegas, Die Antwoord, and making James Jean very angry.  He also surprised me with this…

Which surprised me with these…

Which surprises you with each of these:

Just read his BLOG to find out more about how limited and cool and impossible-to-get these MUNKOs are.  It’s kinda porno and graphic and pornographic, so if anyone asks, you didn’t get it from me.

THE WRITING ON THE WALL.

It’s a tough life on Rosewood.  Staring at a dirt lot all day, catcalling at girls strutting over to RVCA, dealing with the rejection when the girls roll their eyes and pretend to be on their phone, and evading hit-and-run demise on an hourly basis.

But now we have something nice to look at.

ALL IN THE FAMILY.

Downtown Los Angeles really has some of the best restaurants in the city these days.  There are the old favorites like La Taquiza, Yang Chow, Sushi Gen, and Fisherman’s Outlet, and then there are the new guys like the Lazy Ox and Bottega Louie.  A couple years ago, Gram & Papa’s opened in the heart of the Fashion District.  It’s a very simple eatery with emphasis on atmosphere and fresh, distinct, and delicious food.  The best salads and sandwiches downtown, for sure.

Michael’s the owner.

A few reasons why I love this spot.  It’s always crackin’, for one.  Downtown’s kinda tricky, if there’s good food, the clientele’s usually not so palatable.  If the scene is uppity, the food sucks.  Gram & Papa’s is the one joint where you get all the coolguys and hotchicks, no matter what time of the day, no matter what day.  It always feels like you’re in New York or something when you’re in here, definitely far from the throes of Santee Alley.  The staff even rock UNDFTD x Gram & Papa’s collab t-shirts.

Another reason why I love it: the food.  Obviously.  My go-to sandwich is the chicken salad, which is served on a pretzel bread bun.  Fresh watermelon juice doesn’t hurt either. But really, you can’t go wrong with anything here.

And lastly, you’re always bound to run into someone familiar.  Like Barmak. It’s been years since we’ve seen him.  Barmak owns a brand called Scifen that you may be familiar with, if you’re coming from the urban/streetwear scene.  He’s been laying low for the past couple years but now Scifen is back with a whole new look and attitude.  But for now, Barmak’s ready for that Gram & Papa’s salad.

WATERWORLD.

The other weekend, I sailed with some friends overnight, 96 miles offshore the coast of Mexico, in search of a renegade school of albacore.  Figured this was the best and freshest sushi we could ever have, so why not?

Anyways, there’s a reason I’m bringing this up.  Speaking of the ocean being awesome and ruling the world, this is the perfect opportunity to plug an upcoming show I’ll be in called SEA NO EVIL, benefiting the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, and going on July 31st at the Mission Inn in Riverside.  Crystal Method is playing, Shepard Fairey and actress Michelle Rodriguez will be DJing as well.  Contributing artists include Retna, Clayton Brothers, Munk One, Jun Cha, Audrey Kawasaki, and Lola amongst plenty others.  Tickets are on sale now, come out to support a good cause.
