Garry Bone (Board Kennel / Livestock) and the rest of his Vancouver-based crew are known for paving the way in Vancouver, not only for streetwear and sneakers, but skateboarding and street culture as a whole. Their newest venture, i.e. (illustrated example) is no exception. Consider it a more upscale, higher-end boutique, but with that same Livestock flavor.

Sometimes, I think it’s easy to forget how few of us are actually involved in this little “world.” Between the consumers, the shop-owners, the brand-runners, and designers, it’s still all so tightly-knit and inclusive. Regardless of what’s bubbling up in the mainstream or where corporate trends are moving, let’s be honest. 99.9999% of the people in your town can’t fathom why your sneakers look like colorful furry bears. We’re all wrapped up in this incestuous full-zip bubble together, so might as well work, and build, together.

Especially when you work on Fairfax. I walked right down the street to visit Naama at RESERVE…

..flipped through the most comprehensive collection of art/design/photo books, and took a gander at some of Freshjive’s newest tees.

Had lunch with Andres from Five Four. Even though we flip to different markets, we used to share trade-show booths next to these guys. Used to eat the same broke food, struggle with the same car payments, date the same busted uglies. Then they decided to blow up and make a bazillion and forty-three dollars, push Xzibit-approved whips, and rifle through Brazilian models like Pantone chips. While we took the coolguy route and decided to sell to absolutely no one, share a tandem bicycle to work, and date each other’s chubby sisters.

Thanks for the free meal Andres. It’s such a nice change to be eating solid food that doesn’t come out from a Boyardee can or cereal-box.

Impromptu roundtable pow-wow with the chiefs of the design game. Consultant Matt Kornberg, Dennis (Crooks & Castles), and KB discuss what’s next for 2007. Apparently, chubby sisters are NOT in. Sucks for us!

Just a reminder that our Public Label is now available for sale online in The SHOP (along with our Fall Collection). I forgot to mention earlier that these items are crazy limited. Most pieces were produced in quantities hovering around 60-75, and as you can see, many items have already sold out.

Also FYI, since kids keep asking, the red and white lumberjacket hoodies will NOT be sold online anytime soon. Just the blue ones. We’ve got something up our sleeves with red and white pieces, so stick around for more info..forthcoming…

Lunchin’ with Matt (Goodfoot / NOMAD) [who just got back from the BOOGIE show at GDFT's new Vancouver store] and Cullen (Transworld Skateboarding).

Along with Livestock, Headquarter, Alife, Subdivision, and now Goodfoot, Vancouver’s lookin’ like quite the destination spot these days. Oh yeah, not to mention the fact that they have thigh-high snow at Whistler right now and Vancouver has the best skate spots of anywhere in the Intergalactic Empire. And from what I hear, everyone is high all the time, so that means everyone is nicer and not so willing to punch you in the face or stab you with a pocket-knife when you steal their wallet. Which means free money for everyone !!

In other news, Kramer is a closet-racist, Britney Spears is gonna give away her sex tape for free, and Neek has a crush on a girl who actually acknowledges his existence. Apparently, she not only has horrific taste in men, but in her choice of apparel as well.

…And out come the wolves.

Jen runs a site called Phallic Mammary which is exactly what it sounds like. Squirting weenies and boobies all up in yo’ grill. But,.. like, cuddly genitalia that is fun for all ages.
